I Graduated!

I only went and graduated with an honours degree in Politics and International Relations, and I couldn’t be more chuffed! As I hinted in my previous post, at the beginning of my final year I was in a pretty mentally challenging head space. It was difficult enough just to get out bed most days never mind to leave the house and focus on anything meaningful, but I knew I had to. Now, the academic year has passed and I managed to make it through the year getting better grades than I had previously and complete my degree! It’s about bloody time this day came…

The day itself was an absolute scorcher, reaching up to 30 degrees. I don’t know who thought it would be funny to have a goff out in that heat all day, but at least I wasn’t the only one head-to-toe in black for once. I knew I didn’t want to spend money on anything new for graduation day so after a pretty intense instagram poll, I pulled out an old Ted Baker dress that I bought in the sale a few years ago. It’s one of my favourites with embroidered gold dragon details on the sleeve and waist, then I topped it off with black buckled heels from ASOS. I knew my dress wouldn’t be much on show, so I wanted some statement heels to add some edge.

Overall, the day really wasn’t about what I was wearing, but it was a much needed celebration of four years of hard work from myself and my friends on my course! I’m not sure anyone was convinced that they’d make it to the end, after all it wouldn’t be a degree if it wasn’t challenging!

March Clothes Haul

I’ve decided it’s time to do my first ever clothes haul. This probably wont be something I feature regularly on my blog, after all, I really don’t buy new clothes often. But, in March I did pick up a few pieces that i’m really excited about and that I feel are going to be real wardrobe staples for me. So I just want to share them and give you all a taste of my own personal style.

I fell in love with these tie up jeans from Topshop when I saw them in their stylist posts on facebook. I didn’t realise when I bought them, but these are a petite, so the leg is quite short on me (I’m 5’10”), but I kind of like the awkward length on me. They sit just above my boots so there isn’t any faffing with stuffing them into my boots.

While I was in Topshop, I was struck by this skirt. I honestly only went in for the jeans, but when I saw this I knew it could be a Summer staple for me so I had to go ahead and buy it as well. It is a little bit too short for me and I spent a long time contemplating returning it, but I just love the tie up details on the thigh so I didn’t think I could part with it.

Lastly, is the AMAZING Allegra Killstar bag! I fell in love with this as soon as it went online back at the tail end of last year. I held off hoping that someone would buy me it for Christmas, but it wasn’t to be. But finally it is mine! It’s such a good size to use as an every day bag, and the zip at the bottom actually functions. It’s just too tight to fit a book in, but it would be really handy if you had to carry some documents with you.

Let me know what you thought of this blog post!
As I said, it’s something a little different for me,
so let me know your thoughts in the comments.

I am very much a fan of decorative prints on your outerwear, and few are doing it better than these brands about to follow! Don’t worry though. If like me, these are out of your price range all you need is an old/cheap faux leather jacket, fabric paints and some paint brushes and you can create your very own wearable masterpiece! Emily Boo on youtube, done a really simple tutorial recreating the Disturbia jacket that is featured!

Spring Time Gothic

I don’t often buy new clothes. I’m pretty frugal and just buy what I need, which is why you will probably never see me doing look books on my blog (unless at some point down the line I land in the money). However, I am an avid window shopper. I spend hours online pining over clothes that my wardrobe will never home. The only way I can settle that excitement of pretty new clothes that I want to own is to send the links over to Bradley, but I’m pretty sure he has gotten bored of that by now, so today I’ve decided to move the fun onto my blog! Here are some of the spring time pieces I wish I owned, but probably never will.

Throwback tag!

I have been tagged by the beautiful Miss Rachel to do the Throwback tag! She runs a fantastic beauty blog and regularly posts looks and reviews – check out her blog for some inspiration! It’s taken me a while to get round to responding to this because I have just started a new job, but that doesn’t effect the content, so let me just get on with it!

The Questions:

1. What year were you born in?

2. Do you have any pictures of yourself from when you were younger? If you do, show them.

Me and my one true love

3. What TV shows did you grow up watching?

The Rugrats was my favourite and That’s so Raven, I am a classic early 00’s baby

4. What did you want to be when you grow up and do you still want to be that?

I wanted to be everything and anything from paleontologist (how I even learned that word, I don’t know) to a dancer, you name it, it was on my list of aspirations

5. Show a video of yourself when you were younger.

I grew up using camcorder tapes, I don’t have videos of youthful me on any computer, unfortunately.

6. What were your favourite toys to play with?

I loved Barbie and pollypockets

7. What’s the most embarrassing thing that you can remember doing?

I remember trying to copy Kyle Minogues sensual dance moves one time, that is cringy.

8. Read something you wrote when you were in Kindergarten.

lol I literally haven’t kept anything but ceramic paintings and teddies from when I was younger

9. Three songs you loved to listen to as a child.

If it was Steps, I liked it.

10. What was one funny thing you dressed up as for Halloween when you were younger?

I have never done funny for halloween, I got a witch costume from First Choice every year, and those awful finger nail covers that would fall off all the time.

11. Tell a funny story of something you remember happening when you were young.

The only thing I can remember is my dad falling down the stairs as the waitress went to lead him to our breakfast table, while we were on holiday.

12. Are there any special things you’ve kept from when you were a child?

Mostly teddies, and ceramic paintings from my wonderfully talented gran

13. What was something weird you used to do as a child?

lol, I used to carry the karaoke mic and sing for rabbit

14. What’s the scariest thing you remember that happened to you when you were younger?

I’m scared of heights so when I was on a school trip in primary school I froze on this “catwalk” thing that was effectively a bit of wood suspended between two trees, so I cried because I couldn’t move/get down hahah

15. How is the world now different from how it was like when you were a child?

I don’t know if it is all that different, technology is continually advancing, people are still killing each other and the economy is declining. Same shit, different year.
